Take a few moments to get to know the talented Dan Delafield

(Dan's imaginary friend): What is your personal teaching philosophy?
(Dan): It’s about balancing hard work and having fun. Learning takes effort. Effort = work. Work can be hard, but work can be fun. Overall, I strive to promote excellence in individual expression (solos) while working together with fellow performers (the ensemble) while telling a meaningful story (the play). The goal is for the student to grow more confident and capable with each new challenge.

(Dan's imaginary friend): Do you have a personal “mission statement” which influences why you are directing the Summer Theatre Fun Camp?
(Dan): I want to express my love for God and for others in ways that really “let my light shine”. The performing arts is one place where I have some very specific gifts to offer. This includes sharing my enthusiasm for the performance experience, especially with young people who also have a passion to perform!
DAN DELAFIELD brings a wealth of talent and experience to 2006's Summer Theatre Fun Camp. With over 30 years experience in the performing arts, Dan's credits range from children's theatre to off-Broadway and from feature films to television series.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity for your child to have a great time learning from this inspiring and dedicated performer and instructor who loves to share his knowledge and enthusiasm for the stage with young people interested in performing.
Dan was the star of the first national tour of Harry Chapin's Cotton Patch Gospel and played off-Broadway in the world's longest running musical The Fantasticks. He was a featured player in the acclaimed television series Homicide: Life on the Street and appeared as Lt. Forbes in NBC's Centennial. Dan has appeared in leading roles in dozens of musical theatre productions including many area performances co-starring with his wife Tina Delafield* and the Encore Performers, home of this year's Summer Theatre Fun Camp!
Delafield has conducted workshops in performance technique at elementary and secondary schools, and at colleges and universities throughout the eastern U.S. He served as touring manager for the critically acclaimed and award winning Southern Educational Theatre, whose original productions for children were featured at the Kennedy Center's Imagination Celebration. Mr. Delafield also served two seasons as Artistic Director for the renowned Jenny Wiley Theatre in Prestonsburg, Kentucky.
